The 22nd APAMT Scientific Congress brought together approximately 250 delegates, with 60% representing 30 countries outside Malaysia. Attendees, comprising toxicologists and emergency department physicians, engaged in discussions centered on the year’s theme: snakebite management. Fibrinogen, a key parameter in snakebite cases, emerged as a trending topic, though not available on AQT90 analyzers.
The congress also highlighted cases of gas ingestion poisoning, underscoring the importance of parameters such as Carboxyhaemoglobin and Methaemoglobin, which are accessible via arterial blood gas (ABG) analyzers in emergency settings. Additionally, ASSB’s role in supplying National DOA and AADK tenders was emphasized as a vital contribution to advancing toxicology services.
This prestigious event was graced by notable VIPs, including Prof. Dr. Shaharum Shamsudin, Deputy Vice Chancellor of USM, Assoc. Prof. Hossein Hassanian, President of APAMT, and Dr. Nur Azzalia, Director of the National Poison Centre, USM.
